"You Gone Get This Work" by Jasmine Mans
Poem
Analysis"You Gone Get This Work" is a very powerful slam poem. Jasmine Mans is making it apparent that our generation very different from the ones that preceded us. All our generation focuses on is money and material things. Our relationship with money and "hoes" are great yet our relationship with God is suffering. She is explaining the contradicting actions of the people our age, specifically rappers who where Jesus around their neck but can't take time to worship him because their too focused on chasing girls and money. She touches on how people have lost touch with reality because they are blinded by worldly things that won't get us in into heaven and we can't see our purpose because we are distracted.

Literary DevicesThere is a long list of Literary Devices that go into this poem like Repetition, Paradox, Hyperbole, Diction, Imagery, Foreshadowing, Allusion, Anagram, Objectification, Metaphor, and Alliteration. Alliteration appears when she says "I didn't need Martin to tell Me a Million Men weren't Made to March to Maybach Music." Things like Allusion are apparent throughout the poem because she is referring to her generation in America and the hip-hop culture. Foreshadowing comes in at the end of the poem when Jasmine says "Soon, you won't even be able to tell the difference between your daughter and your bitch"
